stop of the beginning

It’s cool as I am writing the new page at home, an entirely easy access on wordpress.  we have planned for many things to do after the study journey, thank to Edith, Bigtent is another good place to gather together…, colleagues.

See you then

Your project in Second Life

Edith oi, thank you so much for introducing, sharing with us your projects, experiences and people (Heike, the Doctor…) in Second Life. I doubted at the beginning whether SL could be easily adopted in educational settings, especially in Viet Nam contexts with so much constraints.. of course, it is continuously discussed and, may be your plan is to open it and let us either criticise or think about ..?

For me, I enjoy all your stories from SL, they are like pictures that now I can zoom in and out to identify which should be right for anyone as learners …It is an excellent idea for midwives to help babies be delivered, it is properly another learning style, informal learning or formal ones, depend on programes’ principles, teachers’ purposes…and lifelong learning is beyond..

will be back again as have to return class..

Second Life: Virtual gaming and learning

This morning Edith surprised us by an emotionally debating presentation on Gaming & Learning in Second life, I think this topic is brand-new to Vietnamese teachers and educators. Edith, I impressed as it is new and explorative. Many things can be debated behind “the screen”, I am sure, “teaching” not “cheating”, educational behaviourism and culture, whether it is accepted in VN contexts….Taking risks or not?

However, we had great fun this afternoon as ‘newcomers’, unsteady walking in your secondlife, thank you, we need stimulating and playing like that. You are right, the avatars, images have flashed our minds and hopefully they could bring good things to learn in the coming days …

SSAILL Moodle Sandpit (SMS)

Last week we were enrolled in SMS, where we could learn, revise and dig into the use of web 2.0 tools in our teaching practice. We did play but really learn in the meaningful context. At the beginning of the week, we had impressive lectures from Mr.Brian Caughley, he taught us how to create/add an activity in Moodle Sandpit. He had very good experiences in teaching his students online via LMS. Amazingly he told us that some of them he never met in real life but online classes and they did well. Will the sort of e-classes become popular in the coming years? Whether or not  teachers/classrooms are not needed in the near future? How does the teacher feel and what is different between face-toface classes and online ones?

Though we did not have much time to ask Mr. Caughley these questions, my experiences on Moodle Sandpit yielding insights of new learning style today; we can learn anywhere, anytime…life-long learning sustains…In Viet Nam context, as far as I know, Moodle is feasible solution for e-learning. I feel it is like a Green House where the roles of Admin User, teacher, students can be safely, effectively activated and the real learning properly takes place. We did learn another pro- new useful tool to teach vocabulary, Lextutor 101, teacher ably used it as a loop (course from Sandpit) to provide us a grasp of understanding the use of tool. Great job!

After the week, as students, we had a lot of assignments from other courses, I hope I can complete before returning home…yes, as we are learning..and I enjoy playing round in the Sandpit..

What about you?

Off-line authoring and web 2.0 reflection story

I have created a story for TELL group teachers who are interested in applying web 2.0 tools in their teaching practice . The story needs evaluating..though I am trying to embed music (propbably Beethoven Moonlight Sonata could be best) into the story by using screencast-o-matic ,

…and it takes time to accomplish..I need your help!
